If you're a bride planning a wedding in the L.A.-area, be sure to check out one of the hottest new clubs on the scene—Ecco Ultra Lounge (eccohollywood.com). Even better than playing host to stars like Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, it's eco-friendly!
So exactly what makes Ecco so eco? Well, to start, it's completely lit by LED lighting, which is super efficient. The venue also used eco-friendly cement, recycled wood and stainless steel and paperless drywall during construction. Best of all, the menu, which features salmon with avocado, pickled ginger and wasabi oil and malted chocolate and banana napoleons, is certified organic.
So if you're looking for chic locale to host a rehearsal dinner or some place to head for an after-party, we highly suggest Ecco.

We recently featured a Sarah Magid (sarahmagid.com) confection in the Fall 2008 issue of In Style Weddings, but I just had to give her a shout-out here, as well. Not only are her cakes completely organic, they're absolutely adorable!
Of course, Sarah (who's based on Brooklyn) can do traditional tiered cakes, but why not be a little more whimsical? I love this mini green (ha!) creation. Take a cue from actress Amanda Righetti who skipped the big cake and used smaller confections that doubled as centerpieces for her wedding in Hawaii.
The best part of all, though, is that Sarah's cakes taste amazing. And you can actually feel good about indulging in them because they're organic! What's not to love?

Hurry up! No, seriously, hurry. I'll keep this post short so you can click over to the Ortolan Organics site (ortolanorganic.com) and fall in love with their gorgeous wares like I did.
Founded by two sisters, Ortolan is all about pure, natural and organic living. Their goods—which include napkins, blankets and hand towels—are all made from organic cotton and feature the most modern patterns.
The hand-dyed blanket shown here is one of my favorite pieces in the collection (and one of the few that's still available to purchase). The plaid is so of-the-moment, but because it's black and white, it's still super chic and classic.
So, why are you still reading this? Go check out the site and add something amazing to your registry!

I'll be the first to admit, I'm sometimes skeptical about eco stationery. Not that I have any objections to being environmentally friendly, but I am all about aesthetics and it can sometimes look a little too...rustic for my personal taste.
But I have to tell you, I've been coming across some amazing eco-friendly stationery since I started at In Style Weddings. As a matter of fact, I've been blown away by the whole eco market as of late (more on that later, though). One of the new stationery lines that I love is Of The Earth. They make these really pretty save-the-dates, that your guests can actually plant. And yes, flowers will grow! Even the ribbon that decorates the cards is biodegradable. I think it's such a great idea and long overdue—stylish stationery you can literally give back to the environment. They're available through Shawn Rabideau Events at 212.695.7881.
Each week, I'm going to share one of my new fave eco-finds (wedding-related, natch) and I'd love it if you would share what eco products you love, as well. Here's to going green!
