MelissasweetreverieHi Brides!

I'm so excited to be blogging with you! I hope I can download my thoughts and share some trends and new ideas that I think will be a great addition to your upcoming wedding.

I was just in new york for the start of my book tour and I was able to catch some bridal fashion shows during bridal week. If you are just starting to look for your gown for next year, I can assure you the new trend is "The gown will not overshadow the bride." The common thread with all the gowns I saw was very few jeweled embellishments. Probably one of the prettiest seasons I've seen in awhile. Most of the dresses had beautiful cut out fabric attachments. The delicate fabrics looked as though they might almost be falling off the gowns like leaves blowing in the wind. Kirstie Kelly's "Giselle" dress looked like it was all made of small leaves. Oscar de la Renta...LOVED all his dresses! In each collection there was a grecian inspiration draped dress. I think we will see more of that in collections to come.

If your priority is not to spend too much on your gown, check out David's Bridal. I did a book signing there and found 2 amazing dresses that were under $600. Even up close the fabric felt and looked great.

And when you pick your gown, try not to "date" yourself. Wouldn't it be cool to have your daughter or good friend want to wear your dress because it is timeless? Love that!!!!
